As a member of the European Union, Greece uses the Euro as its uniform currency. All major credit cards are widely accepted in Greece; however, some establishments do not accept American Express. In Athens, banks are open from Monday - Friday, 8 am to 2 pm. ATMs can be found all around the city and can disperse cash, at a charge, from your accounts at home.
Tipping: Bars and restaurants do not have a service charge, so it is custom to leave a tip for the staff, at your discretion. Between 5% and 15% is customary.
Health
At this time, Athens requires all travelers above the age of five, regardless of vaccination or recovery status, to present a negative Covid-19 result either from a PCR test performed up to 72 hours before the scheduled arrival or from a Rapid Antigen test performed up to 24 hours before the scheduled arrival.
