Keynote speakers


Tereza Capelos, ISPP President

Dr. Tereza Capelos is Associate Professor in Political Psychology, Director of the Institute for Conflict Cooperation and Security, and Director for the MSc Global Cooperation and Security. Her research focuses on the affective, cognitive and motivational determinants of political judgments. She is particularly interested in the role of emotions and values on political radicalization and tolerance, the formation and updating of institutional and individual reputations and the role of trust and confidence on political accountability attributions.

Nicolas Demertzis

Nicolas Demertzis is Professor at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and Director of the National Centre for Social Research (EKKE).His research focuses on the emotions-politics nexus,  and political  communication, with a particular focus on trust, cynicism, trauma and  resentful politics. His most recent books are ‘Emotions in Politics: The Affect Dimension of Political Tension’ (Palgrave, 2013) and ‘The Political  Sociology of Emotions: Essays on Trauma and Ressentiment’ (2020, Routledge).


Noëlle McAfee

Noëlle McAfee is a professor of philosophy at Emory University with a secondary appointment as professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences. She is chair of Emory’s Faculty of Psychoanalysis and serves on the faculty of the Emory University Psychoanalytic Institute. She is the author of over 80 articles and essays in political philosophy, feminist theory, pragmatism, and continental philosophy and five books, most recently Feminism: A Quick Immersion with Tibidabo Publishing. Her 2019 book, Fear of Breakdown: Politics and Psychoanalysis, won the American Psychoanalytic Association’s 2020 Courage to Dream Book Prize for the book that best integrates academic and clinical aspects of psychoanalysis. She has served on the American Philosophical Association’s committee on public philosophy and is a founding member and past director of the Public Philosophy Network. She is also on the board of the feminist section of the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy.

Paul Nesbitt-Larking

Paul Nesbitt-Larking is Professor Emeritus at Huron University College (Canada) and former President of the International Society of Political Psychology. His political psychology research examines how people make sense of their political lives and how they develop their political identities. His recent publications focus on narrative analysis, gender, multiculturalism, citizenship, and the political lives of ethno-religious minorities. He is the co-editor of the Handbook of Global Political Psychology (Palgrave).

There are two ways to view the schedule: online, and using the conference app. We recommend using the app (on your computer or phone) because it is searchable and has more information. 


Use the 2022 conference app to search for your session, plan your schedule, and stay updated on important conference details! Note, the app provides schedule times in the UTC+3 (Athens) time zone. The app will continue to be updated with additional information up to and during the conference.

First, the app requires you to enter the event code to access ISPP’s 2022 Conference App. Code: ispp2022. Following this step, you will want to sign in to access certain app features. You can sign in using the e-mail address and password you use to access all areas of ISPP. You can access the app via the Internet URL below, downloading the app on your phone, or you can use the QR codes below.

Important App Notes: For those using the app on your laptop - hold the mouse and drag it upwards to scroll. At this time, the app is not set up to run in the Firefox browser. Please use a different browser to access the app online.

You can also download the Events Air app from the App Store and sign in using the code ispp2022 and your regular ISPP login credentials.  Please note, that all attendees will receive an email with a unique App Pin that you can use in place of a password.


CONFERENCE APP INFO


SIGNING IN: First, the app requires you to enter the event code to access ISPP’s 2022 Conference App. Code: ispp2022. Following this step, you will want to sign in to access certain app features. You can sign in using the e-mail address and password you use to access all areas of ISPP. 

AGENDA: You can use this feature to add items to MY AGENDA and view the full conference schedule including keynote sessions, social sessions, and screen breaks. You can also search for speakers, co-authors, and session roles (i.e., Chair) using this feature. 

MY AGENDA: This feature allows you to streamline your conference experience by creating a personal conference schedule. To add items to MY AGENDA you will need to use the AGENDA icon to search for specific sessions. At the bottom of each session is a link stating, “Add To My Agenda.” Click the link to add this item to your agenda and navigate back to the MY AGENDA icon to view the updated version of your personal schedule. 

SPEAKERS: This icon will allow you to easily search for sessions by the name of the presenting author. Once you find the session you are interested in, you can navigate to the AGENDA icon to locate the session and add it to MY AGENDA. Abstracts for all sessions are only available in this feature. 

MEETING HUB: This feature allows attendees to look for other attendees to connect with, such as colleagues or friends. You can view invites, connections, and individuals can scan their unique QR codes to share contact details with one another.

ALERTS: Check this feature for updates about the conference such as virtual room changes, last-minute meetings, organized events, etc.


HOW TO SEARCH FOR YOUR PRESENTATION
You can search several different ways within the app: 1) By Agenda - Open the app and select the Agenda icon, then choose the filter icon on the top right corner of the screen. Use the search bar to enter your name or the name of the speaker, co-author, chairpersons, or discussant you are searching for. The app will display any presentation containing that name. 2) By Speaker - Open the app and select the Speakers icon (Note, you will need to sign in to utilize this feature). Select the search icon on the top right corner of the screen, then use the search bar to enter your name or the name of the presenting author you are searching for. The app will display any presentation containing that presenting author's name. Note, the Speaker feature will not let you search for co-authors, chairpersons, or discussants.
