Ask yourself, “What is my research about?” If you cannot answer this in less than a minute in a clear and concise way, you need an elevator pitch! An elevator pitch is a clear, concise, and compelling description of your research that can be understood by anyone and takes no longer to say than an elevator ride. At this event, you will work with senior scholar mentors to learn how to develop an effective elevator pitch. After the training, you will be given the opportunity to present your own elevator pitch and get invaluable feedback from the mentors.
The Elevator Pitch Workshop is open to all conference attendees. You will not need to register for this specific event, just show up and be ready to learn!
This workshop is designed to support early career scholars to effectively communicate their research and who they are as a scholar. A panel of experts will discuss the challenges of framing interdisciplinary research and share their thoughts and experiences of communicating about one's scholarship. Then, participants will have the opportunity to break into smaller groups and practice talking about their research. This will allow participants to receive feedback on effective communication strategies.
