The Awards Ceremony is a ceremony that celebrates the accomplishments of individuals in the political psychology community through various awards. Join us during the ceremony to hear more about the award winners and their accomplishments! You do not need to pre-register for this event to attend. 



2022 ISPP AWARD WINNERS



ROBERTA SIGEL EARLY CAREER SCHOLAR AWARDS

The Sigel Awards are given to early career scholar authors of the best papers (or papers accepted as posters) presented at annual scientific meetings. ISPP first announced this award at its Vancouver meeting in 1996. The first award will be given to the best paper (or poster) written by Early Career Scholars only. In the case of multiple authors, all co-authors must be Early Career Scholars. The second award will be conferred to the best paper (or poster) with an Early Career Scholar first author. BEST DISSERTATION AWARD

Dissertations should represent an independent piece of research that is the sole work of the author and gains the highest degree at the author’s university. The International Society of Political Psychology first awarded the Best Dissertation Award at the 2008 Annual Meeting in Paris. You can read more about this award HERE.

MARKWELL MEDIA AWARD

The Noel Markwell Media Award is presented to someone in the media whose work best reflects the purposes and the spirit of the International Society of Political Psychology. You can read more about this award HERE

JULIETTE AND ALEXANDER L. GEORGE BOOK AWARD

The Alexander L. George Book Award is given for the best book published in the field of political psychology during the previous calendar year. You can read more about this award HERE

2022 Winner: John T. Jost.



DAVID O. SEARS BOOK AWARD

The David O. Sears Book Award is given for the best book published in the field of the political psychology of mass politics, including political behavior, political values, political identities, and political movements, during the previous calendar year. You can read more about this award HERE

2022 Winner: Cigdem V. Sirin, Nicholas A. Valentino & José D. Villalobos.



KNUTSON AWARD

The Jeanne Knutson Award is given to a member of ISPP for long-standing service to the society. You can read more about this award HERE

2022 Winner: Not awarded in 2022.



NEVITT SANFORD AWARD

This award, set up in the honor of Nevitt Sanford, is to be given yearly to someone deemed by the committee to be 1) engaged in the practical application of political psychological principles, or 2) creating knowledge that is accessible and used by practitioners to make a positive difference in the way politics is carried out. HAROLD LASSWELL AWARD

The Lasswell Award is given for "distinguished scientific contribution in the field of political psychology." It is named for Harold Lasswell, one of the first to apply psychology to the analysis of politics. You can read more about this award HERE.
